DNV awards FloaTEC ISO 9001 certification

FloaTEC has been awarded certification to ISO 9001-2008 for project management and engineering for the offshore industry.

DNV Business Assurance, a division of the world-renowned Det Norske Veritas Certification B.V., and an internationally accredited specialist in the independent assessment and certification of management systems, completed the intensive process of auditing FloaTEC’s business processes and management system.

Gary Farrell, DNV’s Director of Operations, presented the certification plaque to Eric Namtvedt, President of FloaTEC at the Company’s headquarters in Houston, Texas.

Eric Namtvedt, President of FloaTEC, said: “This award reflects our ongoing commitment to ensuring customer satisfaction through the continuing improvement of our project-related processes and operations in Houston. I want to congratulate the entire Houston team for its support and commitment in achieving this approval and particularly the Execution Excellence Team who have steered us throughout this journey.”

Namtvedt added, “This achievement further establishes our growing reputation for excellence. We are determined to stay ahead of industry requirements and become the industry’s contractor of choice. This approval gives our customers further assurance and confidence that they will receive the highest standard of service from the FloaTEC Team.”

Through the accreditation process, FloaTEC has developed its project management system which is already in use on two of its major offshore projects, proving the effectiveness and reliability of the system.

“The success of our two major Tension Leg Platforms (TLP) projects, one for installation in the Gulf of Mexico, and the other for a project offshore Brazil using FloaTEC’s unique, patented Extended TLP design, is a testament to our hard work and ingenuity,” Namtvedt said.

ISO 9001 is the internationally accepted standard for best practice in project and business management systems in the Offshore Industry, having evolved over the last 40 years. It focuses particularly on the organization’s top management commitment, customer satisfaction and a continual improvement process to ensure quality products and services.

FloaTEC was created in 2005 as a joint venture company between a subsidiary of Keppel FELS (based in Singapore) and McDermott (headquartered in Houston, Texas). Each company is a 50% stakeholder in FloaTEC.
