OTC16: Attendance down 28%

More than 68,000 people from 120 countries attended this 2016 Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) in Houston, according to data from the organizers.

The numbers were down 28% on 2015, which saw 94,700 attendees from 130 countries, and down 37% on the 46-year high notched up in 2014, at 108,300.  

OTC said this year was the 15th highest attended in the events now 48-year history.

The organizers said the exhibition floor was sold out before the conference and was the third largest in show history at 672,300sq ft, including outdoor exhibits, compared to last year's record of more than 695,000sq ft. 

More than 2600 companies were exhibiting, representing 47 countries, up from last year’s 37. Nearly 300 of them were new exhibitors, with international companies making up 51% of exhibitors.
