Statoil takes up Bideford drilling option

Published

Statoil has exercised its option for an additional well on the Norwegian Continental Shelf with Dolphin Drilling using the semisubmersible drilling unit Bideford Dolphin.

The well will be in direct continuation with the upcoming well, booked as a contract extension last week, which is due to start late-May and last about 50 days.

The contract value for the option is about US$17.2 million for an estimated 100-day drilling campaign.

Dolphin Drilling, a subsidiary of Fred. Olsen Energy, had earlier signed an estimated US$8.6 million one-well contract extension, including the optional well, with Statoil.
