Statoil to drill Blåmann with Songa Enabler

Statoil has received consent from Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) to drill exploration well 7121/8-1 named Blåmann in the Barents Sea, with the possibility of a sidetrack well.

Blåmann is in production license 849, around 113km northwest of Hammerfest and 25km from Goliat, at 376m water depth.

The drilling work is scheduled to take 25 days. The consent also covers drilling of a possible sidetrack, with the designation 7171/8-1A, which will take 13 days.

The well will be drilled by Songa Enabler semisubmersible drilling facility of the CAT D type.
