In all, Ceona Ship Holdings, Ceona Ship 1, Ceona Equipment, Ceona Services (UK), Ceona Chartering (UK), Ceona Contracting (UK), Ceona Investments, Ceona Crewing, and Ceona Holdings are all in administration.

Ceona, founded in 2012, in a hot subsea SURF market, was operating the company owned newbuild SURF vessel Ceona Amazon, the leased Polar Onyx and Normand Pacific subsea construction vessels, and the owned Giant II and Blue Giant vessels.

Earlier this month, GC Rieber Shipping terminated a contract it had with Ceona for the subsea vessel Polar Onyx. The new vessel was on a five-year contract to Ceona, signed March 2014. The contract termination was due to Ceona's default, GC Rieber said at the time.

In June, Ceona, which was founded in 2012, in a hot subsea contracting market, appointed Mark Preece as the company’s CEO after former CEO Steve Preston retired.

In August, Ceona’s chairman John Smith stepped down, due to his ailing health. CFO Matthias Ploch joined the company in January but then left in July, according to the UK's Companies House.

Also last month, Ceona entered into a strategic partnership with Interoil Angola to expand its reach into West Africa.
