Petrobras names Aldemir Bendine CEO

Petrobras officially named Aldemir Bendine, current CEO of Brazilian bank Banco do Brasil, the successor to its outgoing CEO Maria das Gracas Silva Foster, the Brazilian operator announced on 6 February 2015.

Earlier this week, Gracas Foster resigned along with five of the company’s directors amid scandals plaguing the Brazilian giant.

Bendine, who will also join Petrobras’ board of directors, holds a bachelors in business administration from PUC-Rio, and a MBA degree in finance and general training for senior executives.

Petrobras’ board of directors also elected another Banco do Brasil executive, Ivan de Souza Monteiro, as Petrobras’ CFO and Chief Investor Relations Officer, replacing Almir Guilherme Barbassa.

Since 2009, Ivan Monteiro has served as senior vice president of financial management and investor relations of Banco do Brasil, where he held several management roles including commercial officer, senior vice president of finance, capital markets and investor relations, and also as chairman of the supervisory board of BB AG. He holds bachelors in electronic engineering and telecommunications from INATEL-MG and MBA degree in finance and management.

In addition to Monteiro, the board also made several promotions to fill vacancies.

Solange da Silva Guedes will succeed José Miranda Formigli Filho as the company’s exploration and production Officer. Guedes currently serves as executive manager of corporate exploration and production. She holds a PhD in petroleum engineering, with 30 years of experience at Petrobras.

Roberto Moro, who currently serves as executive manager of engineering for subsea developments, will replace José Antônio de Figueiredo as engineering, technology and procurement officer. Moro holds a bachelors in mechanical engineering from University Gama Filho, specializing in project management. Moro has a 33-year tenure with Petrobras, serving in several engineering-related managerial positions.

Jorge Celestino Ramos, current executive manager of downstream logistics will replace José Carlos Cosenza as downstream officer.

Hugo Repsold Júnior, currently serving as executive manager of corporate gas and power, will replace José Alcides Santoro Martins as gas and power officer.
