His initial focus will be on the North Sea region, with this subsequently expanding to incorporate a wider global remit. He will also be involved in developing Intertek’s service offering to augment the existing strong relationships the organization has with key oil and gas companies, as well as reaching new client bases.

Cousland joins from Champion Technologies where he worked for almost ten years in positions including business development manager and UK business manager. He has 20 years’ experience in the energy and chemicals sectors.

Originally from Edinburgh, Cousland gained a BSc in geology at St. Andrews University. He began his career in the gas sector, where he held a number of sales and operations roles before moving into the chemicals industry.

“The time is right for us to capitalize on the opportunities both in established and fledgling oil and gas regions where we will provide local support backed by the experience in our centers of excellence,” says Raymond Pirie, vice president of exploration and production. “Our business model focuses on delivering analytical skills where clients need it and our future plans include establishing additional E&P facilities in new oil and gas provinces.”
