CNOOC begins Wenchang 13-6 production

CNOOC Ltd. began production at its Wenchang 13-6 oilfield, offshore the Western South China Sea.

The Wenchang 13-6 oilfield, located in the west of Pearl River Mouth basin has an average water depth of approximately 120m.

The main production facilities include one wellhead platform and 12 producing wells. There are currently five wells producing approximately 1300bbl/d.

CNOOC operates the Wenchang 13-6 and holds 100% interest.

In July, CNOOC began production in both their Panyu and Lishui gas fields. Both fields are also located in the Pearl River Mouth basin.

CNOOC’s Panyu 10-2/5/8 project contains three oilfields, the Panyu 10-2, Panyu 10-5 and Panyu 10-8, with an average water depth of 100m. CNOOC says that the four connected wells are producing approximately 9000bbl/d, with an expected peak production of 13,000bbl/d by 2015.

The Lishui 36-1 has an average water depth of approximately 84m and also has four production wells. Its primary production facilities include a comprehensive platform and a processing terminal

CNOOC is the operator of the Panyu project holds a 100% interest. CNOOC is the operator of Lishui and holds a 51% interest with partners Primeline Energy China (36.75%) and Primeline Petroleum Corp. (12.25%).

Reports surfaced in July of CNOOC studying the possibility of building a FLNG vessel as a likely option to produce gas from projects in South China Sea’s deepwaters.
