Elliston-2 spudded in Cooper basin

Cooper Energy Ltd. announced that the Elliston-2 oil development located in PPL 249 on the western flank of Cooper basin in South Australia, spudded and of 22 July, the rig was drilling a 12 ¼ in. hole at 162m.

Elliston-2, a vertical well located 250m south-southwest of Elliston-1, is expected to drill to a total depth of approximately 1655m to accelerate production and improve recovery from the Namur Sandstone reservoir. The well is expected to take approximately one week to complete.

Beach Energy is the operator and holds a 75% interest in PPL 249, while Cooper Energy holds 25%.

Beach and Energy recently spudded the Shelly-1 exploration well in PEL 92 in early July 2014. A week prior, they abandoned their second well of a three-well exploration campaign in PEL 92 after encountering hydrocarbons which were considered non-commercial.
