GE Wellstream continues FES relationship

FES International won a contract to supply 12 Diverless Bend Stiffener Connectors (DBSCs) to contractor GE Wellstream.

FES International has supplied DBSCs to GE Wellstream for more than a decade. The product enables the quick, efficient and safe installation of bend stiffeners on offshore deep sea drilling operations.

The DBSC units are to be used by oil and gas development and production company EnQuest on the Kraken oil field, located on the UK Continental Shelf. They will enable the installation of subsea bend stiffeners without diver or ROV intervention, saving a substantial amount of time and cost.

Work is currently under way on the contract, which is expected to complete by the end of January 2015.

All assembly and testing of the product will be performed by FES International’s UK-based team in Ashington, Northumberland.

“We’re proud of the confidence GE Wellstream has placed in us time and time again,” said Ian Latimer, FES international technical director.  “We’ve provided them with technical and innovative fluid transfer solutions for projects all over the world such as Frade, Van Gogh, Athena and Alma & Galia.  To be given yet another opportunity to supply our product is testament to the hard work and dedication of our team.”

Kraken is one of the biggest subsea heavy-oil field projects under development in the UK sector of the North Sea. The field lies at a water depth of 120m in the East Shetland basin, which is located 125km away from Noss.
