Pemex contracts second Diamond semisub

Diamond Offshore Drilling Inc. - Ocean Ambassador semisubPemex has contracted with Houston-based Diamond Offshore Drilling Inc. for an additional semisubmersible drilling rig, according to DODI's fleet status report issued yesterday.

The Ocean Ambassador semisub, built in 1975, is rated to work in 1100ft water depth, and has been re-equipped with a 15,000psi BOP.

Diamond has a 730-day term contract with Pemex for the rig to work in the Gulf of Mexico at US$211,445/day, from March 2014 to March 2016.

Ocean Ambassador joins another DODI semisub working for Pemex, the Ocean Yorktown, which is about to finish out its 930-day term contract, January 2012-July 2014.

Diamond Offshore also has four independent cantilever jackups in Mexico, three of which are currently working for Pemex: Ocean Nugget ($97,000/day through August 2016); Ocean Summit ($85,999/day through May 2015); and Ocean Scepter ($134,999/day through late April 2014). The Ocean Titan jackup is undergoing a 5-year special survey, April-May 2014 (42 days downtime).
