Rowan adds IFS software to UDW drillship

Rowan Renaissance UDW drillshipRowan Companies plc, a global offshore contract driller, is now live with IFS Applications on the first of its ultra-deepwater drillships, Rowan Renaissance

Rowan’s deployment includes requisitioning, inventory, and EAM functionality to improve efficiencies in its maintenance and inventory operations, including equipment and work management. It also includes the IFS Data Replication tool, which allows Rowan’s offshore assets to operate autonomously even when off-line, with all necessary capabilities of a complete maintenance system, including the ability to transmit maintenance histories back for centralized planning, analysis, and administration.

“For Rowan, using IFS functionality to integrate operational risk assessment with preventive maintenance will enable them to create more effective, cost-efficient maintenance strategies to reduce downtime,” IFS Energy & Asset Management Vice President Patrick Zirnhelt said. “In addition, the autonomy afforded by IFS Data Replication will give Rowan’s jack-ups and drillships around-the-clock access to the application and data.”

“Our existing computerized maintenance management system was not providing the business benefits we needed. Using IFS Applications should significantly improve how we manage our maintenance and inventory, and provide additional controls that will help us meet increasingly strict regulatory requirements,” Rowan’s Senior Vice President of Operations Support Pharr Smith said. “The IFS user interface is intuitive and easy to use, which should drive better adoption by our employees.”

Rowan has three other ultra-deepwater drillships under construction.

IFS provides business software to large and midsize companies in the oil & gas industry. For more than 20 years, IFS has worked closely with leading EPCI contractors, drilling contractors, system/equipment suppliers and asset/plant owners to meet the oil & gas industry’s stringent requirements.
