Dubai-based rig and platform builder Lamprell has set an official Guinness World Record for the heaviest load moved by self-propelled modular trailers (SPMTs) as part of the Golden Eagle platform project (pictured).
Lamprell’s contract was for a production, utilities and quarter (PUQ) deck at its Jebel Ali facility for Nexen Petroleum’s Golden Eagle Area Development (GEAD) in the North Sea.
The project was on schedule and on budget, said Lamprell. The PUQ weighed 13,191.98-tonne, with ALE providing the SPMTs. The previous record for the heaviest load moved by self-propelled modular trailers was achieved by Almajdouie Logistics Company (Saudi Arabia) on 22 January 2012, with a 4891-tonne load.
Although the Company have loaded out similar structures in the past, this is the largest offshore platform officially recognized and constructed by Lamprell. The total weight of the platform, including the grillage, temporaries and SPMTs, is 15,511-tonne. The PUQ deck is 98.5m x 46m x 58.8m (length x width x height). A total fleet of 512 axels on self-propelled modular trailers (SPMTs) were used to perform the load-out.
Under its contract with Nexen, Lamprell also built a wellhead deck for the GEAD project. This was delivered in June last year and has already been installed.
The PUQ deck departed from Lamprell’s facility on 17 April and is currently en-route to its final destination in the North Sea.
This is the sixth offshore fixed topside that Lamprell has delivered in four years.
