Pemex E&P exec to speak at PECOM

New interim Director General of Pemex Exploration and Production (PEP), Gustavo Hernandez-Garcia, will be the keynote speaker at the 20th annual Petroleum Exhibition & Conference of Mexico (PECOM). Hernandez-Garcia will speak on Wednesday, 9 April 2014.

Hernandez-Garcia replaces Carlos Morales Gil, who announced his resignation in early February. Morales Gil was head of PEP since 2004.

Hernandez-Garcia most recently served as Deputy Director of Planning and Evaluation for PEP, a position he has held since 2010. He joined Pemex in 1992, first serving as superintendent of reservoir characterization. He later held several roles with the company including: exploitation vice manager, planning manager, asset manager, and vice president of offshore. Hernandez-Garcia holds both a B.S. in petroleum engineering and a M.Sc. in Reservoir Engineering from the University of Mexico (UNAM).

Pemex’s Director General Emilio Lozoya Austin thanked Morales Gil for his service on his twitter page. “I recognize his legacy to Pemex and the oil industry and its role in the formation of new generations of petroleum engineers,” he wrote on 7 Feb 2014.

The Petroleum Exhibition Conference of Mexico (PECOM) brings together key business and decision makers from Petroleros Mexicanos (PEMEX) and other global operator and service companies.
