Oceaneering picks up Burullus work

Published

Oceaneering International has been subcontracted by Saipem to supply umbilicals for the Burullus West Delta Deep Marine (WDDM) Phase IXa development offshore Egypt.

The order is for 10 subsea production control umbilicals totaling approximately 84 kilometers (52.2 miles) in length and two electrical power cables totaling approximately 55 kilometers (34.2 miles) in length.

The equipment is to be manufactured at Oceaneering’s facility in Rosyth, Scotland and is expected to start in the second quarter of 2013 and be completed in the third quarter 2014.

Saipem's scope of work was the engineering, procurement, installation, pre-commissioning and commissioning support of subsea facilities at WDDM, where it also performed earlier subsea development phases.

New facilities include rigid and flexible flowlines, umbilicals and other related subsea structures, to be installed in water depths up to 850 metres. Marine activities will be carried out between the second and the fourth quarter of 2014.

Burullus is part of the WDDM concession, operated by BG Group. Production first started from the WDDM area in 2004 at Scarrab Saffron. The area is now in its 9th phase of development with Burullus.
