Interventek launches Revolution

Written by  OE Staff Tuesday, 03 May 2016 06:24

Interventek Subsea Engineering is launching its new shear-and-seal Revolution Valve at OTC in Houston this week.

Interventek claims that the patented Revolution Valve is the only valve on the market that does not compromise its ability to seal with its shearing action and does not use any elastomer components for fluid containment. "This is the best line of defense in high pressure, high temperature environments and when a fast and reliable seal is required," the firm says. "It is easily scaled to meet all well bore sizes, to cut all likely intervention media and its compact size with rotary actuators means it is ideally suited to the challenging confines of in-riser and slim line open water interventions.

"This heralds a break through towards an exciting new era of innovative industry applications across the entire lifecycle of the well, from exploration and appraisal to development, production and abandonment." The new valve is expected to reduce the current cost of manufacture and ownership by a staggering 50% compared with conventional products. It can also surpass endurance testing over many hundreds of cycles and is specifically aimed towards meeting the highly rigorous API 17G industry standards.

Stuart Ferguson, Interventek chairman said: "Our goal is to revolutionize the global subsea intervention market with game-changing, disruptive and enabling solutions. We will deploy compliant, higher performance, compact and cost-effective safety valve technology in the most challenging of subsea environments.  We are committed to delivering best-in-class solutions that are half the cost but twice the performance."
