The astonishing simplicity of offshore energy risk management

A series of talks aimed at young oil and gas industry professionals in Aberdeen launches with a look at risk management and collaboration early next month.

The SPE Aberdeen Simplified Series is run by the Society of Petroleum Engineer's Young Progessionals section in Aberdeen.

Speaker George Grangeon says: "The talk aims at demonstrating the direct correlation between risk management and collaboration. I will also be addressing basic concepts of projects management and how these interlink between the scope of work, contract and commercial objectives.

"In conclusion, the participants will be asked to debate the supposition that a company must first develop a solid foundation of internal collaboration before it can expect improvements in supply chain collaboration."

Grangeon joined the international energy and marine industry in 2007, at a senior commercial manager level. He holds a prior background in international government program and finance, he developed his international commercial experience in multiple project involvement across four continents.

Grangeonhas held various positions with service contractors and one independent operator, with commercial responsibilities involving profitability analysis, mergers and acquisitions, pricing, schedule, risk, insurances, contract formulation and negotiation, dispute resolution and business development. Grangeon is also a member of SPE.

The free talk, titled The Astonishing Simplicity of Offshore Energy Risk Management, will be at the Station Hotel in Aberdeen on the 3 February, starting at 6.45pm with refreshments. Book online here
