Updated: Keynote speakers announced for PECOM 2016

The 22nd annual Petroleum Exhibition & Conference of Mexico (PECOM) will feature several keynote speakers this year, and kicks off on Tuesday, 5 April in Villahermosa, Tabasco.

Taking the stage on 6 April will be federal deputy Georgina Trujillo, and Mexico’s National Commission of Hydrocarbons’ (CNH) Oscar Roldan.

On 7 April, Petrobal CEO Carlos Morales will speak, and undersecretary of hydrocarbons at the Ministry of Energy Lourdes Melgar has been invited to speak.

Additional keynote speakers include David Madero Suárez, general director of the National Center of Natural Gas Control  (CENAGAS), and Cleantho Leite Filho, director of institutional relations and business development, Braskem Idesa México.

At the 2016 PECOM event, there will be more than 250 exhibitors, 8000 delegates, and double the exhibit space from 2015 of two exhibit halls. CNH will also offer a data room for all delegates participating.

“The CNH data room will be accessible to all companies participating in PECOM and will feature information being made available to businesses as well as briefings on the governing rules, such as contract administration, measurement, and opinions,” Roldan said. “PECOM is a very important event to Mexico’s oil and gas future and we are proud to be a continuing part of its success.”

PECOM offers an array of critical content to Mexico’s current and future oil and gas industry. The conference provides the latest updates on the energy reforms from SENER, CNH and the legal community.

Attendees will hear from top PEMEX officials and other industry leaders as Mexico evolves into the energy future. PECOM will also feature case history, lessons learned, best practices, new technologies, and networking.

About the keynote speakers

Georgina Trujillo

Trujillo is the president of the LXIII Legislature of the Congress Energy Commission of Mexico. As of 2014, Trujillo has served as the Senator of the LVIII and LIX legislatures of the Mexican Congress representing the state of Tabasco. She served as Mayor of Centro, Tabasco and Senator from 2000-2006.

Trujillo has a degree in business administration from the Universidad Juarez Autonoma de Tabasco, and is the daughter of the former governor of Tabasco, Mario Garcia Trujillo.

Oscar Roldan

Roldan is the head of national data repository of CNH. He has served as the CNH general director of planning (2012), and prior to that he was the CNH general director of hydrocarbons (2009).

His career in the hydrocarbons industry began in 2001 at the Ministry of Finance where he was part of the team involved on the new fiscal regime for Pemex.

Roldan holds a B.A. in economics from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México and a Master’s degree in statistics and econometrics from University of Essex in the UK.

Lourdes Melgar

Melgar is the undersecretary of hydrocarbons in the Ministry of Energy since 2012, and member of the board of directors of Petróleos Mexicanos (PEMEX) since 2014.

At the Ministry of Energy Melgar served as assistant secretary for international affairs from 1998 to 2002, and also held several positions in Mexico’s Foreign Service from 1993 to 2007.

She was founding director of the Center for Sustainability and Business at the EGADE Business School of the Monterrey Institute of Technology. Melgar has been a visiting scholar at the Woodrow Wilson Center and also at the University of Texas at Austin. She has authored several articles on energy security, on cross border hydrocarbon resources, and on the transition to a low-carbon economy, and is a member of the National Researcher System of the Mexican Council for Science and Technology (CONACYT).

Melgar is the vice president of the Mexican chapter of the International Women’s Forum and associate of the Mexican Council on Foreign Relations.

She has a doctorate in Political Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Carlos Morales

Morales is the CEO of PetroBal, Mexico's first privately owned company.

Prior to PetroBal, Morales was chief of exploration and production at state-owned PEMEX for nine years. In total, Morales worked at PEMEX for 32 years where he held numerous positions including reservoir engineer, reservoir management deputy manager, production and planning manager, south region vice-president, planning vice-president.

He is a member Mexico´s Engineering Academy, the Society of Petroleum Engineers, the Colegio de Ingenieros Petroleros de México and the World Energy Council.

Morales is a petroleum engineer from the University of Mexico, earned a Master Degree from Stanford University and a diploma on project appraisal and management from Harvard University.
