Intertek has been awarded the dimensional control contract for INPEX Ichthys floating production storage offloading (FPSO) turret development.

The contract invoves the assurance and verification of fabrication and integration of the FPSO turret. Intertek Surveying Services has been operating for over 25 years, providing dimensional control, laser scanning and precise surveying.

Through its dimensional control surveyors, Intertek will support INPEX with audits during the fabrication and integration process to ensure first-time fit up. Dimensional control services also help customers reduce design, re-work, and shutdown times as well as reduce man-hours in potentially hazardous areas and activities

The Ichthys liquefied natural g (LNG) project involves piping gas nearly 900km from the Ichthys field off the north-west coast of Western Australia to Darwin, Northern Territory.

The turret will be fabricated in Singapore and integrated to the hull in South Korea. The project is expected to commence September 2013.
