Thalassa buys GO Science

Thalassa has agreed a deal to buy Go Science for £3.6 million from administrators.

Go Science, which employs six people, provides mobile sensor grid services and products, in the UK and overseas, to the oil and gas, defense and homeland security sectors.

This includes for use in seismic exploration, life of field extension, undersea asset integrity inspection and survey, acoustic arrays, electromagnetic arrays, surveillance, communications and ocean sensing.

These are deployed using unmanned submersible vehicles, developed by Go Science to communication with each other at depths of more than 2000m.

In the year to the end of December 2012, GO Science reported a loss before interest, taxation, depreciation and amortization of £0.3 million on turnover of £2.5 million.

Thalassa said the acquisition would complement the firm’s WGP business, but that it would operate as a standalone business within the Thalassa group.

GO Science operations are centered within a 5500 sq ft facility based in Aztec West, on the northern outskirts of Bristol, UK.
