No pay for Mancharee-1

Singapore-based KrisEnergy completed drilling on the Mancharee-1 well off the Gulf of Thailand with no significant pay zones identified.

KrisEnergy says gas shows were encountered at several levels but no significant pay zones were identified.

The well is located in license G10/48 in the developing Wassana oil field and reached a total depth at 3,720m measured depth  (3,188m true vertical depth subsea) and a water depth of 51.8m.

KrisEnergy began drilling the exploration commitment well on 8 August 2014.

Mancharee-1, the final commitment well in the third exploration phase of the license, was drilled using the West Cressida jackup rig owned by Seadrill Far East Ltd.

KrisEnergy holds 100% working interest in G10/48, which covers 4,696sq km over the southern section of the Pattani Basin in water depths up to 60m.

The block also contains the Niramai and Mayura oil discoveries, which are in various stages of development or appraisal.

In June, KrisEnergy contracted Shelf Drilling’s Key Gibraltar jackup for development, appraisal and exploration drilling in the G10/48 and G6/48 blocks. The contract will begin in January 2015 for a firm six-month term with an option to extend an additional two months.

Once the G10/48 drilling program is completed, the Key Gibraltar will move to G6/48 to the north, where KrisEnergy is also the operator, and undertake appraisal drilling in the Rossukon area where oil was discovered in 2009.

G6/48 covers 566sq km over the Karawake Basin on the southern margin of the Pattani Basin and the northwest margin of the Malay Basin in water depths of up to 75m.
