Intecsea wins Culzean subsea FEED

INTECSEA UK has been awarded a subsea front-end engineering and design (FEED) contract for Maersk Oil UK's US$4.7 billion Culzean ultra-high-pressure, high-temperature development in the North Sea.

The contract, which includes optional detailed design scopes also in support of the Culzean project, was awarded following a competitive tender process and is expected to run for 10 months.

In May, KBR's London office was awarded the FEED contract for Culzean’s three platform standalone facility. Hercules British Offshore is providing a newbuild heavy duty jackup drilling rig to the project. It is being built by Jurong Shipyard.

Ramboll was awarded the detailed design contract for the Culzean wellhead jacket, associated piles and appurtenances, including sea-fastening.

First production on Culzean is scheduled for 2019.

Maersk Oil UK is operator of Culzean, with 49.99% interest, with partners JX Nippon (34.01%) and Britoil (BP) (16%) its co-venturers.

Forecast plateau production is in a range of 400-500MMscf/d (this represents Maersk Oil equity production of 30-45,000 boe/d).

The accommodation platform will have capacity for over 100 people. The water depth is about 88m and the reservoir is located around 4300m below sea level.
